Rumours first surfaced publicly last month after a Quebec reporter (Mikaël Lalancette þ@MLalancette) announces on Twitter that he had reliable sources saying that a group from Trois Rivieres was buying a team and moving it there and that team was the PEI Rocket. Savard Jr flatly denied this was happening, says he didn't know where or how these rumours start and says he and the Rocket organization are committed to PEI.
Tonight another rumour and another Quebec reporter (Max Lalonde þ@MaxLalonde_ ) announces on Twitter that he had strong sources saying that a group from Sorel Tracy were in the process of buying the Rocket and moving them to Sorel and that the team will be sold in the following weeks. Savard once again comes out and denies rumours, once again says he doesn't know where or how these rumours get started and that no one has contacted him about buying team and once again re-affirms commitment to PEI.
Lalonde says it isn't Bathurst as LGM was made a $3 million offer but turned it down as he is/was looking for $3.5 million. Lalonde also said the Rocket were close to being sold to the Trois Rivieres group.
Not 100% what to think other than I think these were cases of where there was smoke, there was fire and IMO there is at the least some substance to these rumours. How much substance who knows but I am getting the feeling that Savard is talking to others and time will tell if these rumours turn out to be legit and serious.

LG stated friday, at a meeting with local businessmen, and the premier of NB, that he had a team in trois rivieres for years (jr AAA), and at times attendance was 75 people a game........says he has no interest in moving the Titan there, likes Bathurst, and is here to stay.............
PEI is going through a rebranding/renaming, etc, of the team right now..........I doubt they are going to go through naming contest, etc, finding a name like the Islanders, with plans to sell and move.
it's hard to say what is really going on.......I'm sure every struggling team would listen to offers, and take one, if the right price came along.

The rebranding chatter was all in the first month ... and that didn't generate the excitement they expected. Why spend more money doing that when it won't make any difference? Time to cut their losses.
